INVESTORS House bill   A U.S. House panel approves a sweeping proposal to allow automakers to deploy as many as 100K self-driving vehicles without meeting existing auto safety standards and bar states from imposing rules on driverless cars.

The measure, which would be the first significant federal legislation aimed at speeding self-driving cars to market, would require automakers to submit safety assessment reports to U.S. regulators but would not require pre-market approval of advanced vehicle technologies.

GM, Ford (NYSE:F), Alphabet (GOOGGOOGL), Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) and others have been lobbying Congress to override rules under consideration in California and elsewhere that could limit self-driving vehicle deployment.

CURRENCY INVESTORS UK house price index advances more-than-expected in May

United Kingdom House Price Index | Data | Chart | Calendar

CURRENCY INVESTORS UK house price House prices in the United Kingdom increased 2.6 percent year-on-year to an average of GBP 218,390 in the three months to June of 2017, below 3.3 percent in the previous period and market expectations of 3.1 percent. It is the smallest annual gain since May of 2013 and significantly below the 10 percent peak reached in March of 2016. On a monthly basis, prices slumped 1 percent, the first monthly decline since January. Compared with the previous quarter, house prices edged down 0.1 percent, marking the third consecutive quarterly fall. Yet, household finances face increasing pressure as consumer prices grow faster than wages. This, combined the new stamp duty on buy to let and second homes in 2016, appears to have weakened housing demand in recent months. A continued low mortgage rate environment, combined with an ongoing acute shortage of properties for sale should continue to underpin house prices over the coming months. Housing Index in the United Kingdom averaged 357.16 Index Points from 1983 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 719.10 Index Points in December of 2016 and a record low of 96.10 Index Points in January of 1983.

United Kingdom House Price Index | Data | Chart | Calendar

BUZ INVESTORS House prices in the United Kingdom increased 3.8 percent year-on-year in the three months to April of 2017, the same as a 3.8 percent rise in the first quarter of the year and higher than market expectations of 3.6 percent. It is the lowest annual rate since May of 2013, significantly below the 10 percent peak reached in March of 2016. On a monthly basis, prices went down 0.1 percent. Compared with the previous three months, prices fell 0.2 percent, the first quarterly decline since November of 2012. Housing demand appears to have been curbed in recent months due to the deterioration in housing affordability caused by a sustained period of rapid house price growth during 2014-16. Signs of a decline in the pace of job creation, and the beginnings of a squeeze on households’ finances as a result of increasing inflation, may also be constraining the demand for homes. Housing Index in the United Kingdom averaged 355.46 Index Points from 1983 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 719.10 Index Points in December of 2016 and a record low of 96.10 Index Points in January of 1983.
