Apple stock set to snap its longest streak above this key chart level in 6 years

BUZ INVESTORS  Apple stock set to snap   Shares of Apple Inc. dropped Monday below a closely watched chart level, which could swing the short-term technical outlook to bearish from bullish for the first time in six months.

The technology giant stock AAPL, -3.24%  started sinking around midday on Friday, helping lead a broad selloff in the technology sector as investors appeared to cash in on recent gains ahead of the weekend. Losses were extended Monday, after Mizuho downgraded Apple on concerns that investor enthusiasm surrounding the iPhone 8’s release later this year is already baked into the stock.

The stock slumped 2.4% in midday trade, after shedding 3.9% on Friday. That put the stock on course to close below its 50-day moving average, which many technical analysts view as a dividing line between short-term uptrends and downtrends, for the first time since Dec. 8, 2016.

Apple stock set to snap

It looks like the tech selloff from Friday is spilling into the Monday morning trading session despite months of sharp gains.

Goldman Sachs turned cautious on the sector, warning investors that they should not consider tech as a safe haven, while some fear it has become a massive market bubble.

Apple’s new iPhone speeds could lag due to modem supply

BUZ INVESTORS  Apple stock falls nearly 2.5% Apple’s (NASDAQ:(AAPL) new iPhones might lag behind the competition in data speed, according to Bloomberg sources. The reason stems from the fact that only one modem manufacturer will have a high-speed product available in time for the phones.

Apple has previously included two modem manufacturers within the same phone model launch in part to avoid reliance on one manufacturer. Qualcomm (NASDAQ:(QCOM) is currently the only company with a 1-gigabyte modem at the ready.

Apple stock falls nearly 2.5%

Intel is working on a modem capable of 1-gigabyte download speeds to rival Qualcomm’s, but product production won’t complete in time to make it into the new iPhones.

The major wireless networks have all boasted about 1-gigabyte speeds and competing smartphones with the Qualcomm modem, such as Samsung’s Galaxy S8, can brag about the speed while marketing competing phones against Apple’s.

Apple’s decision could also come from the lengthy legal battles with Qualcomm over royalty payments.

BUZ INVESTORS  PRESS RELEASE  Stocks to Watch  Trading in Apple was relatively calm on Thursday, just two days after the company reported second quarter earnings. The latest news on the iPhone 8 this week has been exciting with a MacBook Pro-like Touch Bar reveal and a disappointing note from Cowen and Company who says the phone will be delayed. Tesla shares dropped after a mixed earnings report for the first quarter revealed a larger adjusted loss than the Street had called for.

Tesla, Inc. shares had a tough day on Thursday closing down 5% after the company put out a mixed first quarter earnings report that didn’t impress investors. Despite revenue of $2.7 billion beating the estimate of $2.6 billion from the street, there was an adjusted loss of $1.33 a share which was way larger than the 81 cent per share loss that was expected. Shares closed down $295.46 yesterday. The company is on schedule for a July launch of its highly anticipated Model 3. Colin Langan of UBS reiterated a price target of $160 on the stock with a sell rating. JPMorgan however raised their price target from $185 to $190. They maintain an underweight rating.

Apple Inc. shares had a flat day of trading on Thursday and modestly closed in the red down 0.36%. While there was no particularly significant news, there was an interesting reveal that the 10th anniversary Apple phone will come with a MacBook Pro-like Touch Bar known as function area. According to iDrop News, the iPhone 8 expected later this year, would feature a function area and would replace the physical Home Button also. The company just released earnings on Tuesday and saw a small drop in iPhone sales. For the second quarter, 50.8 million units were sold while analysts had expected 52.2 million.

It was earlier this week that firm Cowen and Company wrote in a note to investors that production issues with the iPhone 8’s fingerprint reader would cause a delay. Cowen stated, “Fingerprint yield issues remain unresolved (integrating the fingerprint under glass creates a much higher yield hurdle because the entire display must be scrapped rather than just the fingerprint module). While still possible, Apple will have to put the fingerprint on the back [of the phone.] It appears likely that Apple will slightly delay contract manufacturing assembly timelines by 4-6 weeks to buy more time to fix the issues and make a final decision.”

BUZ INVESTORS   Higher Prices What is there not to love about Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) products? I personally have an “iPhone” and a couple of “iPads,” and I must say that these products have become a staple in my life such that I would have a hard time living without them. I am sure my affinity for Apple products is shared with other consumers as well.

This loyalty to the brand has helped fuel Apple Inc.’s bottom line, and in return, investors have been rewarded by AAPL stock as it continues to forge new highs. Despite any volatility caused after Apple posted its second-quarter results on May 2, AAPL stock’s stellar performance is set to continue. This view is based on the price action on the Apple stock chart, which continues to suggest that the path of least resistance is geared towards higher prices.

 Higher Prices

>>>TRADE NOW<<<

For those not familiar with my publications, I generate my views on a potential investment by analyzing the company’s price chart. This method of investment analysis known as technical analysis, and it is based on the notion that historical price and volume data can be used to discern a trend and forecast future prices. Much of my time is spent deciphering price patterns and indicators that are generated using this data, and I have found tremendous value in this method of analysis. As a result, I have spent the better part of almost two decades dedicating my time to refine my skills in this method of analysis.

Apple has been oscillating within the confines of these two trend lines since the financial crisis concluded in 2009. Using this channel as a tool is almost as easy as it was to create. As long as Apple is trading within the confines of this channel, I can only presume that the longer-term bullish trend is still intact, and therefore, any ill-timed entry into this investment will be rectified with time. Playing the range is also simple because each and every time one of the trend lines has been met, it has caused the trend to reverse and AAPL shares to trend in the other direction until the opposing trend line has been met.

The moving average convergence/divergence (MACD) indicator located in the lower panel has been instrumental in supporting the trend after it has met a trend line. MACD is a simple and effective trend-following momentum indicator that uses signal-line crossings to distinguish between bullish and bearish momentum.

On March 1, Apple shares exited the consolidation wave in an upward direction, suggesting that a new impulse wave is now in development. This bullish view is being supported by a bullish MACD indicator, which is suggesting that bullish momentum is now influencing Apple shares.

The constructive price action can also be used to generate a potential price objective. It is based on the notion that impulse waves that are separated by a consolidation wave tend to mirror each other in length. Applying this notion to the price chart above produces a potential price objective of $158.00, which is also in line with the resistance outlined by the ascending channel.

Others filing comments in response to California’s request were Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) self-driving car unit Waymo, Ford (NYSE:F), Toyota (NYSE:TM) and Uber (Private:UBER).

Qualcomm cuts Q3

According to a report from Bloomberg, the move could result in a multi-billion dollar shortfall for Qualcomm over the coming years if the legal fight isn’t resolved quickly. Suppliers likely won’t be able to pay Qualcomm out of their own pocket and would risk their relationship with Apple if they did so.

This follows a counter-suit brought by Qualcomm in an ongoing legal battle with Apple, in which it said the Cupertino company crippled its chips in iPhones so they would not perform better than Intel chips.

Apple first sued Qualcomm in January, refusing to pay around $1 billion USD in rebates, stating that Qualcomm was overcharging for its chips and charging royalties for technologies it had nothing to do with.

BUZ INVESTORS self-driving car Business Insider's Kif Leswing posted full details on the seven tests that an Apple driver must pass to operate

BUZ INVESTORS  self-driving car  Business Insider’s Kif Leswing posted full details on the seven tests that an Apple driver must pass to operate the Lexus RX450h SUVs on public roads in California. During the initial phase of autonomous testing, Apple is using employees heavy in robotics experience.

Nothing in the released documents confirm if Apple aims to build a car from scratch or create a self-driving platform to be used by a partner manufacturer, although Gene Munster believes it is the latter.

 self-driving car push

“In reality, the complexity of designing and manufacturing a vehicle may push the company to integrate deeply with an automotive partner or partners in an effort more similar to the Apple TV — plugging Apple’s technology into an existing product,” the well-known analyst wrote earlier this week.

The list of companies already off and running with self-driving programs includes General Motors (NYSE:GM), Ford (NYSE:F), Mercedes-Benz (OTCPK:DDAIF), Toyota (NYSE:ToyotaTM), Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA), Uber (Private:UBER), BMW (OTCPK:BMWYY) and Google (GOOG, GOOGL). Somewhere in the mix may be a disruptive Apple partnership or two.

BUZ INVESTORS  Apple Stock Predictions 2020  It’s so easy to find forecasts about Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). Almost too easy. Just type “Apple stock predictions 2020” into Google and see what comes up. People throw out all sorts of numbers, but there’s only one number to describe Apple in 2020: $1.0 trillion.

No, you didn’t misread that.

I truly believe that Apple’s valuation could surpass $1.0 trillion. The share price only needs to climb 35% to make that happen, which is nothing for an earnings beast like Apple.

Apple Stock Predictions 2020

Heck, AAPL stock jumped 29.8% in the last 12 months. And that was considered a down year!

What do I mean? Simple: the hottest tech stocks trade at several hundred times earnings, but AAPL stock currently trades at 17. See for yourself:

THE REAL COST OF TECH STOCKS
Company Share Price P/E
Netflix, Inc. $142.92 336.00
salesforce.com, inc. $83.13 320.90
Amazon.com, Inc. $884.67 180.60
Apple Inc. $141.05 16.89

As you can see, investors are undervaluing AAPL stock.

They’ve let certain analysts (I’m not going to name names!) get inside their heads. These folks believe that Apple iPhone sales have hit a ceiling, but it’s simply not true.

The Cupertino-based company is expanding into new technologies, some of which could become as popular as the “iPhone” or “iPad.” These technologies could significantly boost our Apple stock predictions for 2020, since Apple has all the engineering talent needed to make them reality.

You may recognize some of the technologies; others will feel unfamiliar and exotic. But I assure you, all of them are promising new ventures for Apple. Here’s a quick list:

  • Apple iCar
  • Apple AI
  • Apple Watch

Apple iCar

Apple’s driverless car program was the worst-kept secret in Silicon Valley. The company stayed silent for two years as rumors swirled about an “Apple iCar.” But “Project Titan,” as it’s known within the company, is finally out in the open.

Apple AI

By saying Apple AI, I’m referring to “artificial intelligence.”

The term artificial intelligence is completely misunderstood by most people. It doesn’t refer to the robots from Ex Machina. It’s just a word to describe machines that can learn.

If a machine can spot patterns, retrain itself, and get better at its job, then it is artificially intelligent. It is what I like to call a “Thinking Machine.”

Apple Watch

We all know that the “Apple Watch” hasn’t lived up to expectations. It hasn’t replaced the iPhone as a core driver of revenue—but give it some time.

I still have hope for the Apple Watch. My optimism is actually tied to Apple AI, in the sense that AI improves voice-recognition software. Imagine being able to talk to your computer instead of typing on a screen.Like up on FACEBOOK
