There will be a lighter news schedule this week, compared to last week which was quite heavy. There is central bank input expected this week from Australia and New Zealand, as well as a few high-impact pieces of economic data, mostly from Canada and the U.S.A. The market is likely to be most active from Wednesday through to Friday. U.S. Dollar It will be a reasonably light week for the greenback after a slow start, beginning on Wednesday, with the release of Crude Oil Inventories. Thursday will see the release of Unemployment Claims numbers. Finally, on Friday we will have Preliminary UoM Consumer Sentiment data. Australian Dollar It will be a busy and important week for the Aussie, starting on Monday with the release of Retail Sales data. Tuesday brings the monthly RBA Rate Statement and Cash Rate. On Thursday, the Governor of the RBA will be making a minor speech, then finally on Friday the RBA Monetary Policy Statement will be released. New Zealand Dollar It will be a busy and important week for the Kiwi following Monday’s public holiday, starting on Tuesday with the release of Inflation Expectations data and the GDT Price Index. Wednesday brings the monthly RBNZ Rate Statement and Official Cash Rate, followed by the usual press conference. On Thursday, the Governor of the RBNZ will be testifying before Parliament. Chinese Yuan Friday will see a release of Trade Balance data. Canadian Dollar It will be a normal week for the Loonie, starting with Tuesday’s release of Trade Balance data, followed by Employment Change and Unemployment Rate numbers on Friday. British Pound It will be a quiet week for the Pound, with nothing of high impact scheduled except Manufacturing Production data on Friday.

FOREX INVESTORS BUZZ Chinese industrial production advanced   Industrial production in China increased by 7.6 percent year-on-year in June of 2017, faster than a 6.5 percent rise in the prior two months and beating market expectations of a 6.5 percent gain. It was the steepest increase in industrial output since March, as output expanded at a faster pace for: Manufacturing (8.0 percent from 6.9 percent  in the prior month) and electricity, gas and water production (7.3 percent from 6.4 percent). In contrast, mining production fell 0.1 percent after a gain of 0.5 percent in May. On a monthly basis, industrial production increased by 0.81 percent, after growing 0.51 percent in May. Industrial Production in China averaged 12.37 percent from 1990 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 29.40 percent in August of 1994 and a record low of -21.10 percent in January of 1990

FOREX INVESTORS BUZZ  ASX 200 Midday View  Australia’s ASX 200 advanced 63 points, or 1.1 percent, to 5736.8 on Thursday 13th of July to rebound from a 3 week low. IT and healthcare sectors led the index higher while mining took a slight hit. The big four banks were all up with Westpac in the lead (+1.9 percent), followed by ANZ (+0.6 percent), CBA (+0.5 percent) and NAB (+0.5 percent). The broader All Ordinaries climbed 61.4 points, or 1.1 percent, to 5779.1 and New Zealand’s NZX 50 added 24.9 points, or 0.3 percent, to 7611. Historically, the Australia S&P/ASX 200 Stock Market Index reached an all time high of 6828.70 in November of 2007 and a record low of 1358.50 in November of 1992.

BUZ INVESTORS Japanese services PMI advanced   The Nikkei Services PMI in Japan went up to 53.3 in June of 2017 from 53 in May. It was the ninth straight month of expansion in services activity, and the highest level recorded since August 2015 as new orders increased for the eleventh straight month and new business continued to increase solidly. Employment rose for the sixth month in a row and the rate of job creation climbed to a 4-year high. On the price front, input prices continued to increase (currently on a 4-1/2 year streak) as input cost inflation rose to a 5 month high driven by higher wage costs and higher raw material costs. BUZ INVESTORS SVME manufacturing PMI advanced  The Swiss Manufacturing PMI rose by 4.5 points to a seasonally adjusted 60.1 in June 2017 from 55.6 points in the previous month. The latest figure pointed to the strongest pace of expansion in the manufacturing sector since February 2011, as growth accelerated in production (63.4 from 53.4 in May), employment (58.1 from 51.8 in May) and new orders (59.9 from 59.5 in May).
